Teen Photo Project

The Teen Photo Project received 60 entries from 25 teens. The distinguished panel of judges were Mike Morris, Phyllis Dwyer, (two experienced, retired local photographers) and Joanne Kirves (Executive Director of Longmont Council for the Arts). A total of 40 images will be showcased in the Best Shots exhibit at Still Frame Gallery from July 9 through August 31. The artist reception will be held on Friday, July 9 as part of 2nd Friday in downtown Longmont.
We are looking forward to meeting the talented teen photographers. They are: FIRST Place-Marissa Shevins, 18, a Dawson School graduate, SECOND Place-Auliya McCauley-Hartner, 18, student of the Art Institute of Colorado and THIRD Place-Spencer Bagley, 18, Longmont High School. HONORABLE MENTIONS went to Kathryn Alsop, 14, Mead HS; Spencer Bagley, Connor Fries, 14, Altona Middle School; Auliya McCauley-Hartner; Collin Peterson, 13, Altona Middle School; Molly Server, 18, Niwot HS; Lauren Tway, 16, Longmont HS. Congratulations to the winners as well as all the teens that will have their photographic images on display at Still Frame Gallery for the summer. We thank the following for their support of the project: Mike's Camera provided gift cards for the top three winners and printed the photographs for exhibit; ArtLink Longmont and Longmont Council for the Arts provided grant funds to frame the exhibit; the St. Vrain Valley School District for their assistance in spreading the word to the students to take advantage of this artistic opportunity. We hope to make the Teen Photo Project an annual event to encourage creativity and self-expression through photography. We appreciate any input as to how to grow the project and make it a worthwhile community endeavor.
