Front Page News

The July ArtWalk brought many people, young and old, into Still Frame Gallery to view the exhibits. This morning I woke up to a photo and write-up about the Teen Photo Project! www.TimesCall.com/news_story.asp

Also a viewer wrote in the gallery guest book with regard to the "Musings on Water" images on metal: These prints are the "best of the city" by far, in a class by themselves. -Pat Coffy. How awesome is that! I love being a photographer and this year I will be celebrating my 35th year as a professional!

Gem Lake Hike

Just another beautiful day in Rocky Mountain National Park. We did an easy hike, less than five miles roundtrip, to Gem Lake. The rock formations were intriguing.

Longmont Criterium

The Longmont Criterium in downtown Longmont was so much fun to watch and photograph! I played with my Canon 5D for the first time on rapid fire as the cyclists sped past. They were amazing, especially the pros! I had way too many images but I whittled it down to my favorites and then played in Photoshop with the fresco filter and the Kubota kevX process in the last image since I didn't like the way it looked in fresco.

Rocky Mountain High

The Rocky Mountains continue to invigorate my spirit and inspire my creativity. We were up by 5:30 AM, on the road by 6 AM, quick stop for a latte at The Stone Cup in Lyons and on the trail to Lake Haiyaha (pronounced Hi-ya-ha although we like to say "How-high-are-ya" at 10,220 feet) by 7:30 AM.  Surprisingly cool and very windy, somewhat refreshing from the heat wave we have been having this past week. I am loving the BlackRapid camera strap that allows me to carry two cameras at my side always ready for snapping. This series was not manipulated in Photoshop except for a bump in contrast.

The copper reflection of Nymph Lake is sadly from the beetle infested pine trees that are devastating the western region. The sky is really that blue. I love what wind on water does to create an abstract in nature. A very ancient limber pine stands at the shores of Lake Haiyaha and is one of the oldest trees in the national park still majestically standing.

Summer Solstice Hike

We celebrated the arrival of the summer solstice by camping at Moraine Park in Rocky Mountain National Park and taking a hike to Fern Falls. I took well over 200 images along the trail (it's so easy with two cameras at my side in the BlackRapid double camera strap!) and these are some of my favorites that have been slightly "manipulated" in Photoshop with a KevX process combo filter. Back in the film days, you use to have to cross-process the film a certain way to get the special effect but now it's as easy as the click of a button with Kevin Kubota actions. The only photo not enhanced that way is the last photo of Fern Falls which was absolutely raging. Very cool art images!

Longmont Loves Google

On Friday, June 18 the community of Longmont came together to write a message in the parking lot of Silver Creek High School. Thanks to the effort and energy of Vince Jordan, Payton Peterson and Tom Sheffield (pictured below with Mayor Bryan Baum) to make it happen in less than a week. It was a blast, there was so much excitement from everyone there! My blue car is part of the small g in Google and my friend and fellow photographer, Debbie Cruikshank of Colorado Aerial Photography, took a photo before the DigiGlobe satellite snapped one from over 400 miles high at 12:27 PM. www.coloradoaerial.com/ I, along with most everyone in town, hope that Google makes the best choice and picks Longmont as the community for the Google project!
